Everything looks good on paper when you read the spec sheets about the new features included in Apple’s new iPhone 4S. There is a faster processor, better camera, and a dual core processor with dual core graphics. We have been hearing for weeks now about the new iPhone 5 being released. Even Al Gore had a major role in the promotion of the product. While the new iPhone 4S is a step towards a better product, Apple has given the tech community a major letdown.

A 14.4 Mbps rate and an 8 megapixel camera will make the iPhone 4S a must have for creative professionals. The new incarnation of the iPhone will also be able to incorporate the iCloud technology that Apple will launch around the same time, giving users the storage and technical support they need. With these new and relevant changes, some Apple fans are still disappointed that the same hardware design has been in use for way too many months now.

According to TechCrunch, the new iPhone 4S will see a significant price drop all across the board for the smartphone. The new 8gb version will only be $199, the 32gb will be $299, and the 64gb will cost consumers $399. These prices are of course with a brand new subscription or a renewal with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint. With so few new features available, the price point may be the only thing that draws in new customers.

One of the most intriguing parts of the press conference held by Apple was not the introduction of hardware, but software. In 2010 the company purchased a personal voice assistant called Siri. This app is a serious investment in the voice recognition technology that Apple will include on the iPhone 4S. According to Mashable, this app will act like a personal assistant and be the first foray into artificial intelligence by the company.

You can speak into the phone, ask it a question, and get a response based off of the voice parsing technology. Instead of shouting a clear based command into your phone, like most voice systems, you can ask a complicated question that will get you Wikipedia answers, pre-written text messages, and detailed maps. After using the service for a while, it will start to memorize your patterns and intuitively perform the correct actions for you.

Through all of the hype and promise presented by the media, Apple did not come through with the iPhone 5 or other hardware advances. The PR and marketing departments at Apple did a poor job containing their media message and any negative backlash incurred will be their own fault.

Powertrekk portable fuel cell, Charges Your Gadgets Anywhere and Anytime

At first glance you’re vulnerable to mistake the Powertrekk portable fuel cell for a game controller-an unsightly game controller. Nevertheless it’s not. As depicted by the proof beneath, it’s the ultimate gadget charger for any potential gadget (supplied the gadget has a USB port.)

Powertrekk portable fuel cell is designed and built for the outdoors, which explains its hydrogen fuel cell coupled with a battery pack. The candy part is both can charge each other, that means this child can juice quite a lot of your gadgets. The Powertrekk portable fuel cell would in all probability be a life saver in the event you’re the kind of one who falls into a crevasse and will get their hand stuck beneath a rock. Worse, your precious iPhone is out of juice so out comes the Powertrekk and ta-da!

Okay, so perhaps James Franco does deserve vital acliam for his position in 127 Hours. Motion pictures apart, Powertrekk portable fuel cell is a should for the gadget-inclined who move around loads with their essential electronics.

eBook Reader, time to throw away your paper

Bestseller culture and the industry it belongs too is changing again. Actually it depends on your outlook. Either traditional printing is becoming obsolete or making its latest evolutionary step forward. Amazon has reported that ebook reader sales via Kindle have outpaced print book sales.

The ratio is for every 100 paperbacks sold Kindle users have purchased 143 ebooks more. The Kindle itself is riding high on the ebook wave, replacing the last Harry Potter installment as Amazon’s bestselling product. We’d like to add “for all time” but who are we kidding? Amazon hasn’t even been around two decades.

But yeah, ebook reader are dope thanks to the explosion of ebook reader and tablets. Still, we aren’t sold on the whole idea that ebooks will replace print books anytime soon. While ebooks may allow certain published works to be distributed in a scale previously unknown, they still have a lot of catch up around the world. Until everyone has an e-reader or tablet, bookshelves and their occupants will do fine.

Also, despite the perfect timing that has allowed ebooks to proliferate at an alarming pace, we believe the next decades will bring about an age when reading material becomes a more diverse ecosystem where print and digital texts coexist side by side.

Anyway, kudos ebooks! May you continue shaking the publishing industry with reckless abandon.

The MSI Tablet WindPad 100W

I really like my WindPad 100W, but I admit that there have been a few times. I wished it would run some of the software that I run on my desktop Windows computer. If it could run some of my software, I would never need my notebook again. If you want a tablet that runs Windows, you may be familiar with the WindPad 100W from MSI.

WindPad 100W was unveiled a while back and we found out recently that it would be 550 Euros in Europe. That tablet is now available for geeks in the US to purchase. It will set you back $709.95, which is a lot if you ask me.

If you aren’t familiar, the tablet has a 10.1-inch screen, Windows 7 Starter, Intel Atom Z530 CPU, and 2GB of RAM. It stores data and software to a 32GB SSD and has WiFi, a memory card reader, and a mini HDMI output. The tablet is nothing more than a netbook minus the keyboard really. Still, if you want a tablet with a touchscreen that runs Windows you can get this one.

The original widely spread Samsung Star is now aging seriously. To fix this, Samsung has prepared a successor. Samsung S5260 Star II has been leaving leakages here and there at the recent times and now we finally have an official word on its specifications and availability. Remaining a budget niche product, Star II model number S5260 will not get any version of Android as it could. Instead, designers have left it with the Samsung’s in-house bada core with TouchWiz UI on top of it by the looks of things. Probably to remain at low hardware requirements and keep a competitive price, though this is yet to be proved. Speaking of competition, Samsung Star II aims at social networking and comes with a fistful of respective clients and apps. A splash of specs is after the jump.

Samsung S5260 Star II specifications:

Connectivity: Bluetooth 3.0, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, EDGE
Display: 3″ 240 × 400 WQVGA
Camera: 3.2 megapixel
Software: TouchWiz UI, Social Hub, Facebook, Twitter, IM apps
Battery: 1,000 mAh

Samsung S52600 Star II will launch in February in Germany and then spread to other EU countries, South America and Middle East to India.

There are so many Golf Rangefinders on the market. People start wondering what to look for and which features will work best for their golf game. Here are a few Golf Rangefinders reviews to get you started:

Accuracy and Measuring Distance

Golf Rangefinders find a lot of users because it saves golfers the time needed to do the mental calculations or distance approximations. This aids golf players in saving up their energy reserves on the course and keeps any distance calculation errors to a minimum. So, its essential that the GPS rangefinder you look at provide accurate measurements over large enough ranges to suit your needs.

One of the most accurate Golf Rangefinders is skycaddie sg2

Magnification and Targeting Options

Are accuracy and magnification/targeting related? Yes in regards to your need to determine the distance of your present location to whichever point you want on the course. In addition, you also need to be able to have a have a look at what the area looks like. You don’t want to get the ball in the region you are targeting only to discover that there is a nearby hazard that you missed or some other elements of the course that are going to impede your next few strokes. The magnification and targeting options help you plan a few strokes ahead. Stay on the lookout for this while you are searching.

One of the rangefinders with great magnification options is bushnell v2 pinseeker

Gradient Measurement

This is a great feature in rangefinders especially for leisure or practice play. You should try not to get overly dependant on this ability of Golf Rangefinders because devices which can measure gradient or slopes aren’t allowed in most tournaments. The range finder specs will usually mention any gradient measurement-specific features.

This is an ideal list of items to look at when you just begin your search for the perfect range finder. As your golf game evolves and you have tried out a few rangefinders you will build your own checklist and keep adding to it. In addition to the device itself, you could also have a look at the accessories you get so that caring for the rangefinder and getting the maximum utility out of it becomes possible.

Whether you’re getting to use it for an individual telephone or cell phone or you plan to implement it as a new piece of equipment in your business interest, having the right hands-free headset could make talking within the phone or teleconferencing significantly easier. Unfortunately, with a multitude of options that may or may be right for your specific needs it can be difficult to select the headset that will be best in your specific situation. In order to just be sure you purchase the headset that’s closest to what you may need, try to keep the following features in mind and base your decision on which features will best serve your requirements and help you get the most out of the headset that you choose.

Hands-free Operation

Obviously, one of the main advantages of a headset is the idea to utilize it instead of a telephone receiver or the microphone and speakers of a computer or standard telephone. Different headsets feature different levels of hands-free operation, however; while some can be answered just by speaking a set command into the boom mike, others require that a button be pressed or that the call be connected by manually answering the telephone or starting the headset on the computer. In order to help you get probably the most usage out of the headset that you select, take the time to search for headsets that feature the level of hands-free operation that you desire before making a purchase decision.

Bluetooth Capability

Bluetooth wireless has changed the best way that wireless accessories work for telephones, computers, and other electronic equipment; peripherals which use Bluetooth can switch from one device to a higher without the need for drivers or other software to be installed in any of the devices. Bluetooth headsets can allow for the fast switching of your headset from one device to another, and depending upon what it will likely be used for can feature a variety of styles and features. With Bluetooth, it can be a simple matter to go from a computer or relay system to a telephone and back again so long as all of the devices involved are Bluetooth compatible.

Portability/Simple Use

Major concerns when looking for a headset for personal or business use ought to be how easy the headset is to use and what is involved with moving the headset from one device to a different or using the headset with a portable device. Taking time to check headsets against each other can allow you to determine whether a wired or wireless headset would better suit your requirements as well as how easy it will likely be for you or others to adapt towards the top features of a particular headset design. This can also help you to choose the headset that will best suit your portability needs; you will understand how easy it’s to move the headset among several devices if needed, and whether or not a particular headset would serve you well if you have a need for the wearer to be mobile for some or all of the time that they will be using the headset.

Boom Mike/Earpiece Size

Another concern that you simply must have with regard to choosing the right headset for your requirements is how well the size of the earpiece (or earpieces) and also the boom mike suit your requirements in a headset. Headsets appear in a variety of sizes and styles, including earbuds, single-earpiece sets, and double-earpiece sets… these can provide for various levels of mobility and hearing while wearing them, so be sure to take this into consideration when making your choice. Also stop to check out the boom mike, and whether it is solid, flexible, or adjustable so that you’ll know how well it can be utilized by you or others with minimal difficulty as needed.
